PRESENTATION The 2nd generation of high temperature superconductors, coated conductors (CCs), have been recognized as one of the key technologies to realize critical challenges such as green-innovation and life-innovation. CCA 2010 will continue a series of international topical workshops on CCs for applications. The series was initiated in 2000 at the University of Göttingen, Germany, followed by workshops at Honolulu, Hawaii (2001), Gatlinburg, USA (2002), Orta S. Giulio, Italy (2003), Oiso Prince Hotel near Kamakura, Japan (2004), Santa Fe, USA (2005), Schloss Monrepos, Ludwigsburg, Germany (2006), Jeju Island, Korea (2007), Houston, USA (2008) and Barcelona, Spain (2009). The objective of the CCA 2010 is to provide a forum for researchers to present their latest results in a workshop environment, enabling in-depth technical discussion and allowing significant exchange of knowledge in order to accelerate open innovations in the CC technologies. The program will, therefore, focus on the CC wire development and its system applications highlighting recent advancement in the fields. Especially, it will include the following topics: TOPICS
